Great Fall Drives and Autumn Getaways
Though the calendar page says mid-October, the dry weather of late August, combined with sunny days and cool nights, has created the perfect combination for a stunning display of fall colours in the Hills of Headwaters. In many areas, the colours are still at just 50%-60% of their peak, so there's plenty of time for a Great Fall Drive or a fall hike with family or friends, to take in the hues of orange, gold and russet red that paint a spectacular natural canvas over the hills and valleys.
The natural landscapes set the tone for autumn activities in the region. On October 17th explore the beauty of fall and discover how Terra Cotta's plants and animals are getting ready for winter, with the Credit Valley Conservation's Autumn Adventure. Or enjoy a visit to Visions in the Woods for their "Warm Up for Fall Event" that takes place until October 31st.
In celebration of the harvest season, Orangeville's Market on Broadway continues until October 24th, and restaurants and farmers' markets are showcasing the bounty of autumn on their menus and in their storefronts. Bring the family and enjoy old-fashioned fun at Downtown Orangeville's Harvest Celebration on October 24th, take in the ever-popular Pumpkinfest at Downey's Farm Market that runs through until October 31st, or stir up some fun at a Halloween-themed cookshop at What's Cookin' in Erin.
Be inspired by nature in the Hills of Headwaters. Come for the day, or escape for an overnight getaway and enjoy the charming hospitality at one of our award-winning bed & breakfasts, country inns or resorts. This fall, take advantage of the season's spectacular fall colours, and discover everything there is to see and do in the Hills of Headwaters.

Slow cooking means autumn has arrived!
FROM THE KITCHEN TO THE TABLE, the region’s premier kitchen and tableware store!
The slow cooking movement is an international phenomenon that focuses on local food traditions with a focus on counteracting the effects of fast food and fast life. As the leaves change colour and the temperatures cool, slow cooking in Canada means warm and hearty stews, soups and casseroles.
This month we are pleased to feature Staub enameled cast iron cookware, perfect vessels to celebrate slow cooking, as well as fabulous products from Ontario's Garlic Box to complement your slow cooking recipes.
Subscribe to Secrets from our Kitchen for your free monthly issue, which features some handy new Kitchen Toys, some of our favourite fall recipes (including Country Terrine La Cocotte, Cranberry Chutney & Pecan Pie), as well as the latest in culinary trends, upcoming events and demonstrations, delivered right to your inbox.

Canadian Playwright - Norm Foster - on Stage at Theatre Orangeville!
Canada’s most popular playwright will grace the Theatre Orangeville stage in the romantic comedy Old Love running from October 15 through to November 1.
Norm Foster’s most recent play Old Love, a co-production between Thousand Islands Playhouse and Theatre Orangeville, has just finished playing to sold-out audiences in Gananoque. Mr. Foster stars in this two-hander alongside Gemini Award Winner, Brenda Bazinet.
Old Love is about second chances and taking risks with all the passion one can muster. Bud (played by Foster) is smitten from the first time he meets Molly. His vivid recollections of their meetings are not shared by Molly when they meet twenty-five years later. Hilariously funny one moment, tender and sweet the next, Old Love will simply delight audiences
Tickets can be purchased on-line at tickets.theatreorangeville.ca or by calling the Theatre Box Office at 519-942-3423. Subscribe for a chance to win a trip for two to New York City compliments of Expedia CruiseShipCenters.
