Summer in the Hills of Headwaters

AUGUST 2009 ISSUE

Summer in the Hills of Headwaters

Find the Summer You Seek in the Hills of Headwaters!

Want serenity? Our August skies are as blue as the cool streams that weave through our rolling hills. The sun is as yellow and sweet as the corn that is now available at the local farmers’ markets and the cooler weather has left our golf courses and trails a lush and inviting green. And you’ll find colours you never even imagined in the art studios and galleries throughout the region.

Ready to Celebrate? Many of our towns and villages are literally, throwing their Doors Open to heritage sites on August 15th. Erin Fest is August 8th and Hillsburgh’s Spirit of the Hills Day on August 15th promise fun for the whole family. And Saturdays in the Park in Orangeville include free concerts! Visit our calendar of events for all the happenings.

And what summer is complete without a good book? Visit the 2009 Hills of Headwaters Retailer of the Year, Booklore in Orangeville for the perfect summer read! Many of our local shops are offering their not-to-be-missed summer sales.

Of course, you’ll probably need to stay overnight to experience all that the Hills of Headwaters has offer!

Blood Moon Alpacas

ALPACA CENTRAL, in conjunction with Blood Moon Alpacas
Presents CRIA CRAZY!! Summer Open House
Sunday, August 16, 12 to 4pm

A cria (pronounce cree-ah) is the name for a baby alpaca. Alpaca crias look like something straight from the imagination of Dr. Seuss – a quaint cross between fawn, lamb and giraffe calf. They typically weigh between 14 and 18 lbs at birth and like all nature's babies, are utterly adorable and amazingly resilient. Crias play tag, king (or queen) of the hill, race, jump over imaginary enemies, and nip at each other's ears and heels. Once you've seen this happy display, you'll want more.

Come to Blood Moon Alpacas in Erin on a sunny Sunday in August and admire our 2009 cria crop. We will have educational displays and opportunities for photos with ‘Ladybug’, one of our 2008 crias who is as cute as a ‘bug’.
