The artistic and equine communities from throughout the Headwaters region came together for a celebration of excellence on Monday, May 25th at the Best Western in Orangeville, all in anticipation of the upcoming TO2015 Pan Am Games.

The Headwaters Parade of Horses were the centrepiece of the evening and the artists who brought these 26 horses to life were honoured by the guests in attendance, as well as municipal government representatives, the business community, and the generous patrons who purchased the horses as a legacy to the equestrian events of the TO2015 being hosted in Headwaters Horse Country.

Over the past month, the life-size fibreglass statues have been resident guests at the Caledon Equestrian Park, visited regularly by their “artists” who painstakingly and lovingly brought them to life. By the end of the process, the horses all had names and definite personalities that reflected the vision and inspiration of their artists.

The Headwaters Parade of Horses was an undertaking of the Headwaters Equine Leadership Group, a group of very active volunteers who are working to position the Headwaters region as a centre of equine excellence in the province of Ontario. According to committee chair, Ross Millar, “the Parade of Horses is a way to highlight Headwaters Horse Country to international visitors during the Pan Am Games, and to showcase the high calibre of artistic talent found in the region.”

The public were invited to purchase one of the horses in the parade, and the 26 patrons who are now “horse owners “stepped up to generously support this undertaking, and help bring the vision to life.

The 26 statues in the Parade of Horses are a result of the following matches being made at the Parade of Horses event on May 25th:
