Industry Opportunities

The Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association periodically contracts for business services or becomes aware of events, conferences & workshops to support businesses in the Headwaters region. When these opportunities become available they will be posted on these pages.

These opportunities will also be advertised in our tourism industry newsletter, and businesses are encouraged to register for that newsletter to receive tourism and industry updates on a monthly basis.

Celebrate Ontario workshop – October 9th, 2014

The Celebrate Ontario funding program is currently open for applications!

To assist tourism-focused events and festivals in applying for funding, a workshop is scheduled:

October 9th, 2014: 10:00am – 11:30am

@Hills of Headwaters Tourism office: 246372 Hockley Road, Mono, ON L9W 6K4

 

The workshop will assist those interested in applying better understand the program and get insight into how to build a strong application. The session will also be an opportunity to connect with other festival organizers in your area to discuss your plans and explore collaborative opportunities.

You are encouraged you to review the program guidelines, as some changes have been made since last year.

About Celebrate Ontario

Celebrate Ontario 2015 helps new or existing Ontario festivals and events enhance programs, activities and services that will lead to long-term improvements. This support helps grow tourism in the province by making it easier for festival and event organizers to offer new and improved experiences that will attract more tourists and increase visitor spending.

Each Celebrate Ontario 2015 application will be assessed to determine its ability to deliver the following demonstrated results:

  • increase in attendance and extended geographic reach of the festival or event;
  • increase in tourist visitation and tourist receipts; and
  • improvements in the quality of tourism festivals and events and stronger festival and event organizations.

Seeking Tourism & Community Bloggers/Vloggers 

The Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association, and our partners Dufferin.biz and the Greater Dufferin Area Chamber of Commerce, are seeking to build a long-term relationship with a roster of tourism and community bloggers who are available to travel regularly throughout our area and post about the great experiences available throughout the Headwaters region (County of Dufferin, Town of Caledon and Town of Erin).

Sport Tourism Workshop

The Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA) in conjunction with the Town of Orangeville, Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association, and the Ontario Trillium Foundation will conduct a one-day sport tourism workshop on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Hosted at the Best Western PLUS Orangeville Inn & Suites, the CSTA will bring sport event, tourism and economic development experts together with community officials to share knowledge and experiences and to provide training on the CSTA’s leading edge industry tools. Sport tourism is the fastest growing grassroots economic development initiative in Canada today, with approximately $3.6 billion in annual domestic spending.

Opportunity for Photographers

Dufferin.Biz in conjunction with local partners the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association are looking to secure a roster of local photographers who can be hired on an ad hoc basis as needed for specific photo requirements. They are interested in securing several photographers and will be looking for those photographers who may have a specific skill set or who can offer broad services across a range of subjects.
